Spartanburg County team tabs Horsley as first general manager
INMAN, S.C. — The Spartanburg County Baseball Club has named Skylar Horsley as the team’s first general manager, the Blue Ridge League announced today.
The club will begin play in 2026 at historic Jim Everhart Field in Inman.
Horsley, a graduate of Western Carolina University, previously worked with the Carolina Disco Turkeys as a sales and marketing intern, where she helped drive attendance through community outreach, assisted with sponsorship outreach, produced social media content, and worked in game-day operations including merchandise and fan engagement.
Her background also includes work with the Catamount Club at Western Carolina University in athletic donor relations and game-day operations roles, along with experience in event operations with Rhino Sports and Entertainment Services.
“I’m really excited to take on the opportunity to be the general manager for the new team in Inman and help build something special for the community,” Horsley said. “During my time working as an intern with the Disco Turkeys, I was able to see firsthand how much fun and creativity can shape the experience at the ballpark. It showed me that summer league baseball is about more than just the game. It’s about giving fans a place to gather, have fun, and create memories during the summer.”
Horsley said her goal is to create a welcoming, energy-infused ballpark atmosphere that makes every game feel like an event for fans in the community.
“We want the ballpark to be a place where families, kids, and baseball fans all feel welcome and excited to come back every night,” Horsley said. “Fans can expect a really fun, high-energy environment where every game feels like an event, with great baseball on the field and fun happening off the field as well.”
Horsley graduated from Western Carolina University with degrees in Marketing and Sport Management and is currently pursuing an MBA from the University of Oklahoma.
Jim Everhart Field, where the new team will play, is a mill-era ballpark that has long served as a gathering place for the Inman community.
Team branding and the club’s official name will be unveiled later this spring ahead of the team’s inaugural Blue Ridge League season.
The Spartanburg County franchise joins a growing Blue Ridge League footprint across the Carolinas and Virginia, including teams such as the Disco Turkeys, Uwharrie Wampus Cats, Davie Crocketts and Marion Hungry Mothers. Other Upstate teams are the Joanna Hornets and a new franchise in Greenwood.
