New Spartanburg County team names Lech first head coach

Inman, SC — The Spartanburg County Baseball Club of the Blue Ridge League has named Henry Lech as the team’s head coach for their inaugural season.

Lech brings a strong background in leadership and player development to the program.

A Special Operations U.S. Army veteran with a 20-year military career and experienced baseball coach, he has spent years working with young athletes in the Spartanburg community and currently serves as athletic director and head coach for the Spartanburg American Legion Post 28 Hellcats.

“I’m honored for the opportunity to lead this team and represent Spartanburg County,” said Lech. “Baseball, like the military, is built on discipline, preparation, and trust in the people beside you. My goal is to build a team that respects the game, respects their teammates, and competes with physicality and tenacity every time they step on the field.”

The Spartanburg County Baseball Club, which will unveil a team name later this spring, will call historic Jim Everhart Field in Inman home.

Lech said his coaching philosophy is rooted in fundamentals and character. “My philosophy is simple: respect the game, respect your team, and compete with relentless effort,” he said. “If we do those things and remember to enjoy the game, we’ll build something the Spartanburg area community can be proud of.”

The team is currently recruiting players for the upcoming season as it prepares for its inaugural year in the Blue Ridge League.

"Adding someone's with Coach Lech's background and passion for baseball is going to be great for our new Spartanburg County club," said Blue Ridge League Chairman Greg Sullivan. "We're looking forward to watching what he will build with the team in Inman."
